Teenagers Will Be Looking For Jobs This Summer

Summer is the time teens start looking for jobs and for many of them, it is the first time. They either need the money or want the money to spend on things like video games and date money. Some of them might be saving money for a car and getting a job is a good way to do that.

Unfortunately, the summer of 2009 might be a hard year for teens to find summer jobs. Many of them might also be looking at their parents urging as many families might need the extra money teenagers can bring in. Just like in years past when children worked on the farm to help out with the crops, many teens this year may have to find work to help pay the family bills.

More adults than usual may be willing this summer to take jobs they might not have ordinarily taken just because that is all that is available. These are the types of jobs that are minimum wage and require little experience and are the jobs teenagers usually take. This summer could see more and more situations where there are just not enough jobs to go around and both adults and teens are competing for the same ones.

Another reason teens want summer jobs is to try to get some job experience under their belt. If they can get their first jobs and learn some responsibility, this will help them get better jobs in the years to come. Of course there are the teens that do this mostly because of their parents urging and then there are those that are motivated and do it on their own.

This year though, the importance of teens getting a job may be more about the money than the experience they might gain. If jobs are hard to find, they may have to take anything they can get just to bring in some added money into the household and not worry about whether they are getting a job that will look good on a resume.
