Polystyrene Insulation is The Best Material to Save Energy and Money

November 24th, 2009 No comments

So what is polystyrene insulation? Maybe you have been told that it is a possible energy saving solution in your home and other buildings but chances are, you do not know much about it.

You may be wondering if this insulation is made from the same material from a potable cooler or not… Or perhaps about its cost… Do you think it is really worth the energy it could possibly save? Let’s take a look at those questions closer and find some answers.

Polystyrene insulation is a type of insulation that falls into the rigid foam category. It is in common use in commercial and residential buildings alike, and works very well against extreme temperature fluctuation and noise.

It lasts a long time, waterproof and would sustain its structures well. This tells that polystyrene sheets are the great choice as an insulation material if used correctly in a right situation.

There are two types of polystyrene used to insulate buildings. One is expanded polystyrene. This is sometimes called bead board, and is lower density and lower price. It has less power to insulate, as well, since the cells inside are coarser and contain just air.

Extruded polystyrene, the other type, is made up of much finer cells. They contain not just air, but also a refrigerant gas. That makes them better at insulating.

There are other reasons that extruded polystyrene is the better choice, too. The surface is uniform and very smooth, and it can be formed into multiple different shapes, including stackable blocks and polystyrene panels.

It is also very easy to cut so you would not have problems cutting them to pretty much any size you want. You may also find polystyrene insulation with hollows in it. Those can be filled with concrete in order to create an easy beam patterns and columns with no need for conventional concrete forms.

Price is a concern. As an insulation, polystyrene is fairly expensive. It can add five to ten percent onto home building costs. However, it offers significant energy savings over the life of the building, making it an economical choice in the long run. Plus, homes that are constructed using the concrete grid method avoid the issues you would encounter with a conventional wood frame. A fire protective coating is required, since polystyrene is flammable, and it should never be exposed to extremely high temperatures or direct sunlight. These are relatively minimal problems in most cases, however.

What is polystyrene insulation? It is an energy saving product that could help you reduce costs in your home. It has a number of different advantages, and is particularly suitable for use in new construction.

If you are looking for a right product to save energy in your house, why don’t you spend a bit more time to research it? You will probably find that polystyrene insulation is the right way to go.

Photo frames may not be the first thing that comes to mind when the phrase handouts is brought up, but they are some of the more accessible and versatile gifts available. Photo frames are smart souvenirs for various events, be they personal or corporate. These handouts can be used to announce the birth of a child, celebrate an anniversary, thank wedding guests, or show employee appreciation.

The wide range of photo frames that you can search for online makes choosing one daunting yet fun. They range in sizes, from those as small as keychains to ones as large as a regular book. Materials and finishing prescribe how prices go.

Plastic frames are some of the affordable models available, although matte- or gloss-finished metal frames are quite affordable too. Keeping abreast of technology, some photo frames with digital function can be found online. These models do away with prints but flaunt digital pictures that can be transferred via the computer.

What makes photo frames an effective giveaway is that recipients value these more than they do others such as promotional pens, shirts, or mugs. These versatile bric-a-brac, whether in antique, digital, or contemporary designs, help jazz up one’s environment. Moreover, outfits have found out that encouraging office workers to personalize their workstations by bringing photo frames of family members makes the office a more comfortable place to work.

Accompanying the fact that photo frames have grown in size and memory, some models have been scaled down to enable customers to bring photos of their families wherever they go. One is certain not to get bored with just one photo, as some pocket-sized frames with keychains can be a repository for more than 1MB worth of digital pictures.

Beyond encouraging stakeholders to cherish happy memories for posterity, presenting people with photo frames will also strengthen your relationships with them for all time.
