Build More Links With a Deep Linking Strategy

February 10th, 2010 No comments

Any SEO consultant will tell you that setting links is one of the most important tasks undertaken to improve search page rankings. As each link pointed towards your page is essentially a “vote” for your page, the more of these you can set – especially from highly ranked pages with high traffic – the better your placement on the search engine results will be.

There are many ways to set those links however, and some methods have proven highly effective in both directing new reader traffic your way, but also in improving your placement on search results. Setting these links either in blog comments or articles marketed to directories and other blog sites requires some thought. Most SEO efforts focus on setting links to the main landing page, but miss huge opportunities to focus link attention elsewhere in their web environment.

“Deep Linking” Web environments are usually comprised of several pages, including the main landing page as well as other detail pages. Organizations will frequently include product pages or pages that are dedicated to a specific product group or family. Optimizing the product page for a unique set of keywords and terms related to the product can attract additional traffic from the internet search engines. Linking directly to these pages is termed a ‘deep link.’

A company selling motor scooter parts might have a product line for accessory items like helmets or ‘scooter’ clothing. A web page within the scooter web environment might highlight these items on a separate product page. This product page could be optimized for ‘scooter helmets’ or other specific terms, leaving the main page to focus on bigger terms – something like ‘scooter parts in Seattle.’

Advantages of Deep Linking Many site owners focus only on the main web page. Deep linking or setting links to the product page can offer many additional opportunities to build traffic and reach potential customers. The search engines will also begin cataloguing your pages individually. Search engines seem to like sites that provide a significant volume of detail in several different pages. Deep linking to the product pages help the search engines understand what that page is about and in the end benefits the site owner by earning good placement on search results.

The web owner can also highlight additional keyword phrases and use content directly related to the specific product page. Newer organizations sometimes choose a small product niche, exploit it with a well optimized product page to generate some traffic and web strength, and then turn attention to optimizing the main page for more competitive terms. This is a reverse methodology, but has been known to work in some instances.

Setting Anchor Text for a Deep Link Building traffic to a specific product page is no different than the standard SEO effort. Identify meaningful keywords, optimize the page for those keywords in the title and keyword strings, and then generate external link strength. Keywords for specific product pages will be significantly different from the main landing page. As all web page titles should be different anyway, this has to be done anyway. Then simply set your keywords in the keyword file and base your page headers using those keywords as well.

Mirroring the selected keywords and phrases – or setting properly labeled anchor text – is extremely important here. As blog and article links are set, the keywords for your product page should appear as the ‘clickable link’ back to your page. A page titled “motor scooter helmets” would be linked in blog posts or articles using the anchor text “motor scooter helmets.” Search engines then are fairly confident that the page is in fact directly related to motor scooter helmets.

Linking directly to the product pages is an important aspect of effective Search Engine Optimization. Most article posting sites allow the author to set a link or two within the text or within an author’s box. When others publish your page, they also publish your links, so article distribution can greatly enhance the number of links out in the universe that point to places on your website. One has to be a bit creative about wording and working in the anchor text to the content of a blog post or article. But once done, those deep links can generate significant traffic and sales over time.

Your Options In Garage Security

February 10th, 2010 No comments

The first thing people think of when they are looking at their home and business security is the entrances and exits. This unfortunately does not tend to include garage security, but it should for many reasons. Even if you are covered by insurance and whether you do or do not store a car in there, some things that you may receive payout for are irreplaceable and you still lose money when you think of the time you need to spend cleaning up the aftermath. There is also the fact that when ever a claim is made you are paying it back each month when the premiums increase.

What you will need to think about is whether the amount you pay on insurance is really worth the inconvenience of having to make a claim in the first place or whether prevention is really better than the latter.

One great option for people who tend to forget when they have other things on their mind or are in a hurry is to use a door sensor. This will let you know whether you have left the door open and even if you think it has been closed but is not fully latched. Opportunists will try doors that looked locked just in case so it is better to make sure you are safe by being alerted by a noise that will inform you that you have forgotten to close your door.

You don’t have to manually close the garage door when you can use a remote control. This allows you convenience and means that even if the weather is bad or there are other distractions, on conjunction with an alarm system they will make it easier to get in your home fast but give you the fast easy protection you need.

Buying reinforced doors means that it is harder for criminals to gain entrance in the first place. I have known of people who thought their garage was safe with a single lock, yet the criminals lifted the sides as they would a sardine tin to gain entrance and steal the contents.

If you want extra convenience get a door that does not need to be pulled up or to the sides potentially causing possible injury if the mechanism weakens over time. Why not use the roller doors that give you more room and safety as well as being made from a thicker metal and go well into the ground preventing them from being crow barred open when shut.

The main thing that people don’t think of when they add alarms and locks to their house are the fact that the garage is also an area you need to think about securing. The doors between garages are usually not as thick or protected as your front or back door and many people forget to lock it which is another reason why it is imperative to make sure that the garage cannot be easily entered without your knowledge when your family are either away and worse while they are sleeping. To avoid entry through any windows on the garage make sure they are fitted with a window sensor or bars that are fitted correctly.

As a businees owner you know how crucial it is to treat your clients, customers and suppliers with kid gloves, taking care of them, finding ways to know that you treasure their business. Showing your appreciation is very important to maintain the business over time, and a great way to show appreciation is to give away business gifts, promotional products are a fabulous way to let them know you value their business.

As you start to choose which of the many promotional items you might want to give your suppliers and customers, it’s good to know what they might want. If you are going to customize something and it’s nothing anyone uses then it’s not done it’s job. Giving away a product that is used daily and is high quality will have more impact, items like mouse pads, tshirts and mugs are good examples of this.

If you run a manufacturing company, you might want to choose corporate gifts that have a manufacturing type of theme to them. For instance, personalized tape measures would likely come in handy in that kind of industry. You can have your company name, logo and any other thing that you choose printed on this kind of promotional merchandise. Because it will be a useful item, your customers or suppliers will find themselves using it frequently, resulting in continual advertising for your business.

Technological firms use all types of things day to day that would be considered good choices for a business gift. USB flash drives and mouse pads would be two things to give that would be very useful, and they would come printed with all your business information. When you are choosing what to print it’s very good to include your company URL address so people can find you on the internet. Your business phone number and address are also good information to help people find you.

A nice surprise for your customers who come from out of town is to give them one of the corporate giveaways, so it’s good to have some designed and stashed away exactly for this reason, to give to visitors. Everyone will be impressed to recieve a nicely designed useful gift while they are on a visit to your business.
