Vertical Training-Jump Higher with Jump Mentor

March 4th, 2010 No comments

In order to increase vertical workouts like plyos are very important. You need to understand exactly how they work before you start.

The best way to go about doing plyometrics is to never replant or re-set your feet before jumping. If you want to add 10 inches to your vertical through a jump proram like the Jump Mentor, you have to make sure that you are doing the exercises right.

If you don’t do them the right way you will never get the results you are looking for. So what do you do to get the best vertical training in the world? You follow expert advice from people that lead the field such as Cade Orvin or Jacob Hiller. There are not 2 people that know more about jump training than these 2 individuals.

What do you do in order to get those extra inches when nothing seems to work? You buy a jump program that is proven to work like the Jump Mentor. It is cheap and it is simple and works. It will get you those extra inches to allow you to do those dunks that you can’t do right now.

Imagine jumping 6 inches higher in 6 weeks. That is only a month and a half away. Anyone can dunk with an extra six inches on their vertical leap. You would be able to do any dunk you want with those kinds of ups.

If you have mad hops you will be able to go far in any sport that you want. Especially the ones that put so much influence on height like indoor volleyball, beach volleyball and basketball. Of course you have to develop the ball skills as well, but that is what coaches are for. They don’t teach you how to jump higher, but you can learn to do that with good jump programs that are found online. To learn how to jump higher plyometric exercises are they key.

Best Vertical Program – Watch Out For These 3 Scams

February 8th, 2010 No comments

It is a frustrating experience searching for the best vertical program primarily because they all claim to be the best.

Examine the websites of The Vertical Bible, The Jump Manual, Vertical Mastery and The Vertical Project and they will claim to be the best vertical program.

So, when you are ready to buy one of these programs, how are you possibly supposed to choose? In our research, we have found that there are generally 3 scams to watch out for:

1. Monthly coaching charges – does the program charge you monthly for “one-on-one” coaching? There are great vertical programs on the market that have legitimate monthly coaching. But they generally only cost $10-$12 per month. You have to watch out for the programs with monthly coaching that 1) is very expensive (some are $150 and up per month) and 2) don’t tell you clearly about their monthly fees.

It’s disgusting, but the fact is that some of the not so best vertical programs charge a monthly fee for coaching and only tell you this in very small print when you buy their product.

2. One size fits all – although not intentionally a scam, you still have to be aware of the “one size fits all” approach to these vertical jumping programs. Would it really make sense that the best vertical program would work the same for someone who is 5’6″ vs. someone who is 6’3″?

These vertical jumping programs are meant for mass distribution, so its understandable why they take a one size fits all approach. Great and easy for them, not so great for you.

Some vertical jumping programs on the market are software based that design training regimens based on your current skill level, body type, etc. The price of these is the same, if not less than, the programs that are one size fits all. So, wouldn’t it make sense to get a program custom designed to you and only you vs. a cookie cutter plan?

3. False claims – the best vertical programs don’t make false claims. How do you tell the difference between false claims and real ones? You can tell their false if they make claims like:

- get your vertical jump to 50 inches in a week (this is exaggerating, but you get the point)

- you don’t have to do leg exercises – this is just plain false. Any legitimate jump higher program is going to have you workout your legs.

- Eat anything you want – yes, I have actually seen this. Bottom line is this is false. You have to follow a good diet to get an awesome vertical leap.

Be wary when reading the seductive sales pages of merchants trying to make you believe they have the best vertical program. There are a lot of legitimate choices out there that will teach you how to jump higher to dunk, but you just have to make sure you don’t get scammed.

Exercises To Increase Vertical Jump – 3 Critical Exercises You Must Do

February 7th, 2010 No comments

If you’ve looked online for exercises to increase vertical jump, you’ve probably realized that the advice is plentiful and varied. From my years of experience working with athletes, I have realized there are 3 critical exercises you must do to increase your vertical jump:

1. Squats – to be specific, free weight squats. It’s important to do free weight squats as opposed to squats on a machine or leg press because free weight squats have the ancillary effect of building your core muscles, including your abs and lower back. These core muscles are extremely important to strengthen if you want to increase your vertical jump.

The primary reason free weight squats are one of the key exercises to increase vertical jump is because they will build your quads, hamstrings and glutes. Building these muscles is essential to vertically exploding off of the ground.

2. Calf raises – These are another one of the critical exercises to increase vertical jump because the calves play a key role in giving you both power and explosiveness. There are so many different ways to do calf raises, but the important thing to keep in mind is that you want to choose a calf raise exercise that is both comfortable and challenging.

3. Leg raises – what I mean by leg raises are the kind where you hang from a chin-up bar and lift your knees to your chest. This is one of the critical exercises to increase vertical jump because it not only strengthens your abs (part of your core), but it also strengthens your hip flexors, which provide additional explosiveness.

Keep in mind that there are additional exercises to increase vertical jump, but these 3 are the primary ones I like to target. They target your legs for explosiveness and your abs for core strength. Give these a shot and you’ll be on the right path to increasing your vertical jump.
