There are many artists and designers who offer there services over the internet as freelancers on free or paid internet portals. However there are always the few that catch your eye for any particular reason and I have highlighted a few to write about. Rich Barry is one such artist, who can produce cartoons, illustrations and animations.

I think his style is quite captivating and I can see why he has had the ability to work with many top clients.

Some of his work looks like it could have been produced traditionally, however the majority of it is obviously digital. Many of today’s artists are now working with digital media because it is so quick and easy to you get to grips with.

If you want to be able to produce work like this then you would need to be to use design software like Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, Flash. There is even open source software available if you are on a budget or can’t afford to purchase the higher mainstream products. I myself have used The Gimp, which is very similar to photoshop, Inkscape is very similar to Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. Blender is an alternative to 3D Studio Max.

Rich dose have the versatility to produce games, which can be produced using Adobe Flash CS4. You will need some knowledge of action script to be able to produce dynamic games, but you should check out Rich’s online profile to get an understanding of the type of animation I’m describing of here.

From the city that is known to never sleep rises one of the most creative illustrators to have walked the face of the planet. Kenny Kiernan like many others had been drawing cartoons from when he was just a child, and from this day, his journey to becoming an artist began, but how things would turn out for him he could never know.

He may have started with a pencil and piece of plain white paper, but quickly Kenny moved onto joining the digital era of design as he first started using a Mac in 1990, who knew Mac’s were even around from this day and age.

During his career Kenny has been able to achieve a lot, gaining experience from doing a countless list of jobs whether they be personal project, or projects he is being paid to do by others.

Kenny has stuck to using a slick and urban style of drawing, very clean cleans and strong colours, which he merges together nicely to create the masterpieces that you may see before you.

The Artwork of Lael Henderson

January 28th, 2010 No comments

Growing up in the area of sunny California is well known artist Leal Henderson. Currently living in beautiful mountains of Utah Lael still continues to strive in achieving nothing short of excellence, being the creative genius that he is, it seems as though he has a long more that he wishes to share with the rest of the viewing world.

Lael graduated from BYU in 1993 with a BFA in illustration, after gaining his qualifications he made his first step in becoming the cutting edge artist we see before us today.

Lael has a great love for the traditional form of creating art, but over the past 10 years he has made the conscious decision to move over and join the digital age of creative design. It was a slow and painful progress for him, but not to say that he has been nothing short of successful on this quest.

The disciplines of Lael and focused on children’s, cartoon and conceptual illustrations. Using and combining these 3 formats Lael has been able to become a master when it comes to the artistic portrayal of children art. If ever Lael is to take on a new project, the chances are that it would be artwork for children novels.

The style Lael uses in his work is always well versatile and you can never know what to expect next in his next piece of art. It could be something dark and gloomy or something bright and joyful. The details of his work tend to change with each and every project, the quality of being unpredictable is every great artist’s greatest asset, and no artist wants the public to grow tired of repetitive and uncreative work.

My favourite piece of artwork by Lael Henderson is image of Little Frank, which uses very subtle but strong colours and tones, but the concept of the image is all so simple, yet very captivating.

Lael does have an online portfolio which is something you defiantly have to check out, there is much to be appreciated here.Lael does have an online portfolio which is something you defiantly have to check out, there is much to be appreciated here.
