There are a lot of things to see and do in Egypt, so if you can have cheap holidays to Egypt you are likely to have a good time there. Here is how you can find those cheap holidays.

Once you have begun to look for cheap holidays to Egypt it is likely you will be consulting tour operators and travel agents. It is therefore important that you ensure that these operators are licensed to operate. This will show that they are legitimate and are not potential scams, so that you can have some form of protection if the company fails.

To get the kind of deals you are looking for, the time of year that you book will make the difference. You should expect that you will likely not be able to find cheap holidays during the height of the tourist season which is from October to May. The better deals are found during the off season.

Travel operators tend to offer travellers great discounts if they would book their holidays many weeks in advance of the start of their holidays. The discounts they will offer can be about 15%, so don’t be afraid to inquire about them.

Do as good a research as you can do before you make a final decision. Make sure you check out the many review websites online and get a feel of what it is like in Egypt and where to go there. Understand that some reviews you read online are not accurate nor are they to be trusted. A holiday specialist can give you adequate advice on any particular destination.

Visiting Ibiza Town

February 7th, 2010 No comments

Ibiza Town is the capital of Ibiza Island, both in terms of culture and administration. The town has grown around a natural harbor, and in addition to the many historical buildings there are layers of restaurants, boutiques and bars. In the summer you will see people walking the streets in extremely fashionable clothing. [youtube:8cUn3FoNaEw;[link:Balearic Video];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cUn3FoNaEw&feature=related]

The most famous historical area is Dalt Vila, which is a walled enclave that contains a Catalan cathedral, a Moorish cathedral. Dalt Vila overlooks the harbor. The New Town is to the west, and the New Harbor zone is in the north side of the bay.

If you are arriving from one of the charming Formentera properties then you will see Dalt Vila as you enter the harbor, and your first impression of Ibiza Town will be the harbor area known as La Marina. It sits in between the walls of Dalt Vila and the harbor waters. It is mainly made up of restaurants and bars. The corner of La Marina is known as Passeig Maritim. If you then stroll east you will go past the main harbor building of Estacio Maritima. During the summer one of the features of the area is club parades to promote the club events. Making your way up the hill from La Marina to Dalt Vila you will reach a church with a long history of being destroyed: Esglesia de Sant Elm. Originally built in the fifteenth century the church was destroyed countless times by pirates from Africa, and finally in the Spanish Civil War. The structure you see today was rebuilt after that war, and is three levels in height, plus a bell tower at the top.

The next area you will come across is the Placa de sa Constitucio is a square of white washed old merchants houses. There is a market there known as Es Mercat Vell, which sells organic vegetables. Fruit and vegetables have been traded at the market since 1873.

As you continue forward you will come across the triangle of streets known as Sa Penya. This is the gay district and there is a high concentration of gypsies. No doubt there are also some gay gypsies. There are a number of dark, narrow streets and it can be a dangerous area at night.

If you make through Sa Penya you will come to Carrer de la Verge. This is a totally gay street, and is lined with gay bars, restaurants and clubs. If the gay scene is for you then you will not be disappointed by what is on offer. There is certainly nothing quite like it on the quieter island of Formentera.
