Insights into Simplifying Life
Its equally important that along with having a career, one should stop and deliberate upon the life that one is leading. As one keeps rushing from one meeting to the other, it gives immense satisfaction but along with that it’s also tiresome. So what is the life that one is wishing for?
You need to think about what is precious for you. Your circle of family and friends will always be there to help you out during tough times. But at times, you need to experience real adventure, fun and freeness to see that life is full of fun and there is much more than only work. Take out time to appreciate what is happening in your vicinity.
It is not always the best solution to reinvent yourself; you still need to figure out ways to simplify your life. Figure out what is most valuable to you, focus your life on those core principles, and do away with the mess that doesn’t contribute to your life’s objectives. Firstly, think of what really matters and before you simplify that, you need to zero in on what determines a good quality life.
Our consumerist way of life seems to be contradicting the whole idea of simplifying. Over a period of time, we tend to accumulate a lot of stuff and the world outside starts thinking that the whole idea of our life is to find pleasure in material consumption. This goes beyond the material stuff. There is a satisfaction associated with collecting activities also. This way, we behave like rats that race from one end of experience to another. We are not nessarily satisfied, even though we feel we are important and needed.
There is an emergence of movement of simplicity in the flood of stuff. While we work rapidly and constantly, we become a hamster on a wheel. A large part of our salary goes in meeting our regular expenditure and we only save a handful of our income. We all need to keep remembering that life is short.
You need to come up with an objective that will make you happy and content. This same principle can be applied to your day to day routine. Try and take out time on a daily basis for new opportunities. Leverage time management which means one needs to do lesser things of higher importance. At the end of the day, simple living is all about a philosophy.
In order to live life more cleanly, lightly and in an unburdened fashion, we must lead a simple life. The objective should be to create more secure, unassuming and straight relationships with all the major dimensions and aspects of our life, which revolve around the activities we undertake, relationships with people near us and connects in the society. In a nutshell, it is a life that is outwardly more clear cut and inwardly more well to do.
For a lot of people, simple living translates into basic activities like garden management, afternoon walk in the garden or reading books. The end objective is to decrease earthly possessions and to ensure that you are never in a hurry. By doing away with the disturbances in life, one can focus on the world outside. For some people, living life is all about earning money and amassing wealth and authority. For people who have done the reverse, know that people need good things in life like time to think, introspect and play. Happiness is much beyond power and material possessions.
