Great Britain has plenty of fun and exciting destinations for anyone looking for day trips inside the UK. What follows are but a handful of the thousands of ideas and destinations available as wonderful respites from the hectic pace of life:

Bath – Maybe the best travel destination in UK, Bath is a classic among ‘get away’ locales for beautiful sightseeing by day followed by an energetic and highly active night life.. Visit the ancient Roman Baths or take the UK’s best spa breaks in Bath! The area features some of the best in architecture and shopping!

Manchester – England’s “Second City” features a wide range of activities including, theatre, Bridgewater hall, green room and more. There are many theaters, galleries, nightclubs and sporting events available for the visitors to this city.

Lincoln – The home to one of the finest cathedrals in UK, the gothic style Lincoln Cathedral, this city offers much to do for any family looking for get away day trips in the UK.

Newcastle – This is the spot for entertainment and active nightlife. Shopping and sightseeing during the day gives way to some of the hottest times that Britain has to offer in night life.

Brighton – Is the fun capital of England’s south coast. Located next to Hove, Eastbourne, and Hastings and reachable within one hour from London, Brighton is a desirable destination year around. This city is famous for its Georgian architecture, trendy shops, and fine restaurants.

The Black Mountains – One of the most scenic areas in United Kingdom, the Black Mountains feature appealing horse riding for the weekend; an activity that is attractive to most any visitors.

If you are looking for fantastic venues to take a day trip to this summer then you could do worse than visit Greens Windmill Science Centre. If you are looking for fun and playtime with your children then the Bonkers Childrens Indoor Play Centre is also a great place to visit.

Take out a map of England and pin it to a wall. Throw a dart at it and you are sure to find on of the thousands of the great destinations suited for day trips in the UK.

There Are Superb Gardens In Cheshire No Matter The Time Of Year

Gardens in Cheshire are renowned to be amongst the best English country gardens you will find, no matter what time of year you visit. This is the green fingered belt of the UK, and over 1 in 8 of all gardens visited in the British Isles are in Cheshire. This county was also the home to the 2008 “Year of the Gardens”.

February is when the snowdrops bloom and these can be found in abundance at Rhode Hall, have you ever seen a snowdrop? They are exquisite! For sweeps of daffodils, Spring is the time to visit Cholmondeley Castle and Arley Hall is fantastic any time of the year, the colour and magnificence of these gardens make them award winning. Norton Priory’s Rose Walk is blooming divine and you will find these in the Walled Garden. There is also Lyme Park, the Ness Botanical Gardens and Tatton Park to see and each has their own gifts. Tatton Park Japanese Gardens are a must see in the autumn when the maple trees mark this season in vivid colour.

With all these about and so much competition to have a beautiful garden, one can only imagine how many garden centres there are in Cheshire!

Just to mention two of these famous settings in more depth we have to mention Cholmondeley Castle. There are a number of different walks for visitors to follow, or they are able to just wander around at their leisure, the garden offers a splendid view of the gothic castle but do make sure you take in the “Silver Garden’. This is a Bakewell silver and iron work feature which celebrated the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. The rose garden is the youngest addition to Cholmondeley Castle and was only completed during the early 1950′s.

The Cholmondeley family still occupies this castle and Lady Cholmondeley is very avidly involved with the development ah beautifying of the grounds. It is she who is responsible for what you are able to see there.

Cheshire is also home to Arley Hall and these award winning grounds are used for many film shoots as well as weddings and other events. The Temple Garden is the centerpiece with is lake filled with Koi and beautiful azaleas as well as other colourful flowering shrubs. After the Civil War Arley Hall was rebuilt and the temple was moved from the old grounds to the new!

One of the most famous features of Arley Hall is the double herbaceous border, this was set in 1846, before these became fashionable, and is the oldest of its kind in the UK. It is the home of the Egerton-Warburton family, but weddings and filming as well as other event do take place in these gardens.
