Should You Try a Different Search Engine

Everyone knows that Google is at the top of the food chain when it comes to internet searches and no other search engine comes close to the 85% of market that Google holds. Bing and Yahoo are considering merging, however this will probably not pose too much of a threat to the information super hold of the internet giant.

You may think that Google is just a website but it has a surprising amount of power. It holds on to the information that you search forever and it has said to have more power than many countries even. It is amazing what just an online website can do. This is a serious amount of power for a website to hold and it can be cool or scary.

Now you may not be concerned about this information, however keep in mind Big Brother can see what you do and internet searches can come back to bite you depending on what you have researched, so it is important to have the security of having your name linked to said searches for the shortest amount of time possible.

In light of this Bing is promising to limit their saved searches to six months and then delete them and Yahoo is only holding search results for three months. Perhaps you are thinking that this is of little significance to you, but your searches say a lot about you, and tell a lot about your activities and what is happening in your life. So perhaps it is not the government that you are concerned with, but a spouse you are currently separated from, or a boss that you don’t want butting into your personal life.

No matter what you are doing online or searching, it is creepy to think that someone is watching you and can forever trace it back to you. Another thing that you might want to think about is that they could have your personal information to and it could be out there forever and you don’t know how it is being handled. So if you want to be safe, you might want to consider a different search.
