Sedation Cosmetic Dentistry

September 5th, 2010 No comments

Although most of us are envious of the glitzy smiles which we see in magazines, we wouldn’t dare to undergo any of the drastic cosmetic dentistry procedures that celebrities often endure to transform their smiles. For many, it’s the cost factor that keeps them from the cosmetic dentist’s office to get porcelain veneers Lumineers in Dallas or their local area. Who can afford to pay several thousand dollars for a smile makeover when they have other financial obligations to attend to, such as a mortgage and car payment? Others, however, possess a different reason for not wanting a turn in the dental chair – fear. It’s no secret that many of us fear going to the dentist, so much so that we may have avoided going for several years. In the exhausting majority of cases, one or more painful past dental experiences leads patients to abandon the profession altogether. Some patients are able to brave another visit and eventually overcome their fear. Others, however, continue to struggle.

If you’ve been longing to receive some cosmetic work but still can’t muster the strength to visit a cosmetic dentist, perhaps you should consider visiting a sedation dentist that provides aesthetic services. Sedation dentists rely on the help of medications given either orally or intravenously to diminish a patient’s anxiety level. These medications, like laughing gas or nitrous oxide, are administered either on-site or given to the patient to take a few hours before their appointment. The dentist will have to asses the patient’s anxiety to determine which sedative to use.

Since cosmetic procedures employ the use of the dental drill and anesthesia injections, many patients stand to benefit from being sedated before treatment. Porcelain veneers and in some cases Lumineers dental veneers, for instance, require some tooth enamel removal before installation takes place. If a patient can’t handle the sight of a shot, nitrous oxide may have to be used. If the entire procedure makes them uneasy, more extreme forms of sedation might need to be used.

Before a patient is to be treated while sedated, the dentist will review their medical records to ensure that no foreseeable complications arise. The goals they intend to achieve with cosmetic dentistry will also be thoroughly discussed. This will help the dentist determine what restorations to use to maintain an optimal level of functionality and aesthetic refinement. Most sedation offices will work with you to arrange for convenient payment plans and will try their best to determine whether your insurer may cover any of your procedures. Once you’ve found a talented cosmetic sedation dentist to makeover your smile, you will have an entirely different outlook on the dentistry profession.

A new look for a white bookcase

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

You must have seen those simple and elegant little white bookcases from Ikea? They were so popular that they helped get the business off the ground. Nice straight lines and a nice low price matched the solid construction and ease of assembly. The must also be one of the most popular items on Craigslist. With so many sizes and colors available it’s no wonder that every second home seems to own at least one of them.

Here is a question that I’m guessing half of you will answer in the affirmative. Did you have a little white bookcase in your bedroom when you were young? Perhaps it was even a Billy, like mine. The Swedish furniture giant must have sold a million of these things as I know of a half dozen kids that had one. If you had one as a youngster there’s a good chance that you still have it. Like a bad neighbor the things keep sticking around.

You may find that your simple bookcase does not look so amazing next to your cool chair. It’s time for an update. All you need for this one hour project is some patterned wall paper, the self-adhesive style and a little elbow grease. Take the shelves out and prop the bookcase on its side. Remove the rear fasteners and slide out the back piece.

There are tons of wallpaper designs out there. You can look on the Internet of just drop by a wall covering shop and see what catches your eye. You may find that they have a little extra stock lying around that they can put a great price on.

OK – the back is all done, now what. Well you need to decide if you want to also do the shelves or just stop there and put the back piece on. I would suggest trying to do the shelving in a different pattern. If you did your backing in a swirly pattern then try a solid color for the shelves. I hope you liked your little project.

Types of Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker

Are you trying to decide which rice cooker is the right one for you? Did you know that these days there is now a bigger selection of top quality Japanese rice cookers on sale in the United States than ever before. So with this greater choice comes a more difficult time knowing which machine you should purchase. Indeed, if you want the best then you should really consider a Zojirushi Micom rice cooker. This style will set you back over $100 and could cost up to about the $400 mark. There are quite a few different machines in this range so it is important to know what the differences are so that you get the best value device.

First of all there are the standard Micom appliances like the best selling Zojirushi NS-LAC05. This one is a 3 cup model. This is one of the other important distinguishing characteristics. There are three different sizes of cooker that you can get. The smallest are the 3 cup units, then there are the 5.5 cup models, followed by the larger 10 cup rice cookers. Zojirushi make Micom machines in these three sizes. Carrying on, Micro Computerized (Micom) rice cookers are controlled by a micro chip that is the “brain” of the machine. When you use one of these cookers you do not have to stir the rice or keep an eye on it in any way. The machine does all the cooking for you.

The biggest jump from regular Micom cookers to a higher level is when you start to consider the Induction Heating range. These machines of course are micro computerized but they also have a sophisticated hi tec heating system that uses a magnetic field instead of a heating element. If you want to get one of these devices it will cost quite a bit more money. They start at around $250. However in my own experience are well worth the extra initial cost. The rice they make tastes better.
