Obesity In America – What Is The Cause?

Obesity in America is at an all time high. The levels are truly astonishing and at epidemic levels. We are literally eating ourselves to death. Here are some facts about our country and how overweight and obese we really are. Why is America the fattest nation on the planet? Why do we overeat so much and do so little to help ourselves subsided obesity?

60 million people in the United States are full of the disease obesity, where females are particularly affected more. Over 1/3rd of women between the ages of 25 and 74 are obese, the bulk of them being Mexican and African American. The amount of Americans since the 1960′s that are overweight or obese are an instantaneous results of prepackaged foods and exercise and activity virtual at a stand still for most.

Fast Food currently days plays a significant rule in the amount of obesity we see in our country. Fast food is currently socially accepted as a result of its globalization. These foods add more calories that you don’t need and are unhealthy in nature. The extra calories that are not weakened by the body is stored as fats which provides rise to obesity. It’s very easy for one to become overweight by eating fast food because it is so readily available to the public.

Since the 1990′s the statistics of overweight and obesity has dramatically increased as a direct result of the our eating habits and especially fast food restaurants. Obesity in children has dramatically increased since the 1980′s. Much to do with fast food and non outdoor exercise. The biggest factor being video games and computers. Honestly when is the last time you seen a kid outside playing. Its very rare to be the least.

Only 4% of youngsters in 1982 were thought to be obese. Currently more than 30% are obese. Out of about 25% of all obese children are now starting to show symptoms of the development of Type II diabetes. Of those children developing Type II diabetes, more than sixty percent of obese children are showing one or more signs of cardiovascular disease.

With obesity, comes the increased risk of diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes type II, heart disease, colon cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer. In addition, obesity has been linked to mental health conditions like depression or feelings of shame and low self-esteem. Health consultants say that even losing 10 to 15 percent of your body weight will dramatically decrease the chance of developing these serious conditions. In addition, many obese people are discriminated against and targets of insults and alternative verbal abuse.

Within the United States we have to many cases of people dying every year as a result of obesity and we are seeing more and more people turning into diabetics because of obesity. Who do we tend to hold accountable? The individuals that make foods that are not healthy for us to eat? That is one way to look at it but we do not have to eat the unhealthy food. Of course, it might not presumably be our fault as a result of we currently live in a terribly nation where no one takes responsibility for themselves anymore.

Its time for each one of us to be accountable for our eating habits and behaviors. In our current economy its a lot of easier on the wallet to eat at the many fast food restaurants that there is currently offered to us. We have to change our eating habits if we want to live a long healthy life. Value shop,put dinners together that are not expensive. Eat leftovers. Make yourself a sandwich. There are many things you could do to save money and not eat at fast food restaurants. Exercise for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Make your kids play outside.
