Funny People Online Free
The Funny People movie, a comedy drama directed and written by Judd Apatow, was released in July in America this year. Adam Sandler plays the lead role. Other actors like Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana and a lot more have a role too. Though it is not a movie you’d like to watch with children because of its liberal dosage of sexually crude humour mixed with R rated language all throughout the movie, you’d enjoy it.
This movie is based on the life history of Judd Apatow. George Simmons (Adam Sandler) is a loner who is single permanently. He belongs to the upper level and has earned himself a fortune as a comedian. He is egoistical, abrupt, rude, friendless and lives alone by the Pacific in a huge mansion in Malibu. He is suffering from a blood disorder which is untreatable and has less than a year to live. When he learns about his disease he begins to withdraw from life gradually. When he comes across Ira.
Ira is a stand up, struggling, upcoming comedian who is still floundering to find his true stage persona. On the night that they both perform at the same club, George notices Ira and employees him as his semi-personal assistant. They soon become friends. George begins to establish Ira in his Malibu house. He begins to like and dislike Ira. Making Ira his punching bag, joke writer and nurse. Ira is all impressed with George and ready to do his bidding and please him in any way.
In due course, Ira convinces George to let his friends know of his illness. George declares that he is friendless. Slowly faces from the past start appearing, mostly old comedians, to hang out with George. The scenes of the monotonous, depressing life of George are replaced by scenes from his past which are nowhere close to what he has turned in to today. They depict a George who was fun loving and funny.
The past shows us how George fell in love with an actress called Laura who was his one true love and one true biggest regret because he had lost her. Laura had given up her career even before it could take off to establish her as a full fledged star to settle down for a family life with another man (Eric Bana). There is an emotional scene involving George and Laura that makes you all teary eyed. The character ‘Laura’ is acted out by Apatow’s wife Leslie Mann. Laura’s children’s role is played by their daughter’s in real-life.
Watch Funny People online free, sometimes the cruel and yet funny side of what lives are really like once you become a celebrity. There is not a moment where the story loses its grip over you. It also gives you an insight to how a dying man gets a chance at learning how to live again.
