Do You Love 70′s Clothes?

They say what goes around, comes around. This is certainly true in fashion. In case you have not noticed, the fashions of the 70′s have come back into vogue in some circles. There are people looking for those old hippie vests and tie dyed shirts. They are even searching through thrift stores and online outlets looking for those glittering disco outfits that we all thought were buried forever!

In all seriousness, the fashions of the “Me” decade are getting popular again. This may be due to a wave of nostalgia moving through the aging baby boomers, or it could be the younger generation trying to understand and put their own spin on a very interesting decade.

There are a couple of groups searching out 70′s clothes today. To be honest, most of the people looking are probably not aging hippies. Some older folks show an appreciation for the fashions that got them through their youth, but the old hippie look does not seem to be in vogue. At least not for now. Young people wanting to adapt the hippie and disco styles that defined the decade of the 70′s are snapping up vintage threads on eBay however. These creative thinkers are taking those old pieces of clothing and mixing them up with some of today’s fashions to create styles and looks that are all their own. The point is not to look like a lost time traveler, but to make the most of the funky and distinctive styles that went into hiding as the world moved into the 1980s.

The second group of people buying up 70′s fashions actually are trying to look like throwbacks. Whether it is for Halloween or some other themed event, 70′s costumes are very popular items. Dresses with loud, flowery prints, fringed vests, bell bottom jeans, and even GoGo boots for the ladies are amazingly popular. They appear on Amazon or eBay and they are bought up in an instant by hippie and disco wannabe types or just by people wanting to have some fun. Disco outfits, which were popular in the latter part of the decade are also popular as costumes.

Whatever the reason for the resurgence in interest, 70′s styles are back. The 70′s were a challenging decade for many countries, especially the United States. It is rather nice to see young people looking back at the clothing fashions and taking something positive from that very confusing time period.
