Learning How To Experience Astral Projection

January 13th, 2010 No comments

The experiences that are possible in the astral dimension – which is a non-physical area of reality existing alongside ours – seem to be infinite. You may imagine it to be similar to one of those very lucid dreams that happen from time to time.

During an out of body experience, many people experience themselves to be a point of consciousness floating in the environment without being subject to gravity or other physical laws. It is a dimension where everything seems amazingly real, changing and fluid. Time can also be distorted and stretched out.

Although there are common denominators to all out of body experiences, there are several variables that make each experience unique. Most people report that their first few oobes changed their perception of life and of themselves.

When wanting to induce an out of body experience, there are a few preliminary steps. It goes without saying that you need to choose a time and place where you will be comfortable and not subject to distractions. A good time to consider is early in the morning which is usually a far more potent time than the evening to bring about an obe. Roughly, this is because the chemicals in the brain are at a most advantageous point in their daily sequence in relation to the out of body state.

Begin by allowing your mind and body to relax as deeply as possible while still staying attentive. After some time you will enter the theta brainwave state. It is a slow-frequency state reminiscent of meditation and dreaming. It is not an easy feat to reach this level of relaxation for most people.

There are different ways to help you stay concentrated as you work through any mental chatter. Lighting a candle and focusing on the flame or choosing whatever object to channel your attention can do the trick. During this time, begin to breathe deeply but effortlessly. Visualize and imagine what an astral voyage may be like. Do this lightly.

You will know you are nearing the theta state as your body will feel more heavy and may even appear to be paralyzed. This is a normal occurrence called ‘sleep paralysis’ which happens when your brain actually thinks your body has fallen asleep.

You will then be ready to act out the exit technique to separate the energetic body from the physical one. One such technique involves visualizing a rope hanging from the ceiling and then without moving your physical body at all, reach mentally or energetically for the rope. As you grab it, pull yourself up. It is crucial you do not make any physical movement as you attempt to do this. If you feel you are not able to move your energetic body, relax some more and wait a little bit.

The coming out of the physical body usually happens very quickly. You only need to perform the exit technique at the right time – that is when you are sufficiently relaxed and able to disassociate from the physical body. If you try to move too soon you may only end up moving your physical body and you will need to start over.

Questions are posed in a way that suggest that the answers should give insight about a particular situation. And the answers must be interpreted by the answer. So in this way, it may be similar to dream interpretation. The answers are there, but must be understood by the asker in the context of their own life.

Some suggest that the person who poses the question already has an idea of the right answer, but they have not considered that answer in a way that makes sense. The I Ching may help them accept the answer they already know is true because it helps them consider it differently.
