Anxious Chihuahua Received Benefits from Alpha-Stim Treatments

January 8th, 2010 No comments

Shakira, my adopted beautiful little long-haired Chihuahua and I took a while to learn getting along with other. Shakira has been showing aggressive character indicating she does not want to befriend me. She kept having accidents in the house although she had been trained before I brought her home.

As hard as I was trying to love her and get along, this little dog was causing so much anxiety in my life. I wasn’t sure what a message forum was, but I said OK. We sat down and Shyla’s fingers flew. In just a few minutes, we were reading through some comments from people who happened to live in the area. Several people discussed the great details of positive results they got when they brought their pets to Midwest Microcurrent.

The next morning, I called and made an appointment with Dr. Ava Frick at Midwest Microcurrent. When Shakira and I visited the clinic, I found Dr.Frick to be very warm and felt like she had found her calling in working with pets.

We talked about Shakira’s behavior then Dr. Frick asked me if the idea that Shakira was suffering from anxiety ever crossed my mind. I felt guilty of being worried of my own anxiety and never thought that pets would feel anxiety the same way.

I told Dr. Frick that I did not like the idea of putting my dog on any sort of canine anti-depressants, and she agreed. She believes on holistic alternatives in treating pet anxiety or animal depression. Our course of treatment for Shakira included using the Alpha-Stim Stress Control System rather than medication. My dog began to calm down in a few hours on the first treatment.

The drive to Dr. Frick’s clinic takes more than an hour each way, and since Shakira would be needing more treatment, I decided that it would be worth the investment to purchase a home version of the Alpha-Stim. Shakira continues to improve and I found it easy to use. Her modified behavior is now better and we are now best of friends.

Dr. Ava Frick founded Midwest Microcurrent, LLC to help pets in dealing with stress, animal stress, and behavioral problems. Her practice is also involved in pet joint pain.

January 7th, 2010 No comments

If you are looking for an interesting alternative pet to dogs or cats then why not consider potbellied pigs. These have been kept as a pet ever since the 1970s. Previously the most common breed was Vietnamese potbellied pigs but now there are many other options including miniature breeds.

If you are planning to buy a potbellied pig then it is essential you understand how to take care and look after your cute new pet as it will involve slightly different techniques then with a typical cat or dog.

It is important to point out that the myth that pigs are smelly creatures is untrue. They give off no more odours than a cat or dog. If they are well trained they should produce very little mess. As with most pets it is up to you to clear up any nasty accidents. You can train a pig to use a petdoor in the same manner that dogs do.

Pigs need space. If you live in a small apartment without a garden then choosing a pot bellied pig as a pet may not be the best idea. In the summer time you can let your pig roam freely in your yard but you must ensure that there is some protection from the sun’s rays as pigs can get sunburnt just like we can.

Whatever type of pet you have it will need some degree of exercise. If you are going to have a pig as a pet then you will have to be willing to take it out for walks.

Of course you may get some strange looks at first but people in your neighborhood will soon get used to the two of you. In fact it can be a great way to make friends as those that are curious will stop and chat.

Finally, there is a place to go where you can learn everything you want to know about potbellied pigs. If you are thinking of getting a potbelly pig, or just want to learn more about them, you can do it today!
