Decorating With Christmas Ornaments

October 20th, 2010 No comments

If you want to do something a bit different for Christmas this year, you may be thinking of new ways to display the same old Christmas decorations that you have been using for years. Instead of getting those things out, leave them in the closet and come up with some new ideas. December is a great time of year to find things to decorate with, whether those things are related to the holidays or not. Christmas ornaments are not just for your Christmas tree, as they can be versatile objects to make your own decorations for the holidays and even for the rest of the year.

The best thing about decorating with Christmas ornaments is that they come in just about any color you can think of for your holiday season, and any other season of the year. If you find a store or a web site that sells ornaments for a good price and have a huge variety, you can get any color of the rainbow and sixteen shades of those colors as well. You can choose a different color to use on your tree every year if you want to. Not only can you get every color of Christmas ornaments, you can also get silvers, golds, and other metallics as well. Some have glitter, and some are matte in finish.

Besides using Christmas ornaments on your tree, you can also hang them across the top of doorways in your home. Hang any size you wish in a single line, as long as they are high enough so that no one is going to get an ornament in the eye each time they walk through that doorway. You can hang them from simple string, or you can use colored ribbons. You could also hang some tree tinsel across the doorway and then hang the ornaments from that. It is a simple yet festive way to announce that Christmas is on the way.

You can also buy some large glass vases with wide tops to fill with Christmas ornaments. This is a nice centerpiece that you can do for Christmas, or you can do it for the rest of the year in various areas of your home. You can choose to get different Christmas ornaments in various sizes and colors. You can get some with a matte finish and some that shine. Mix them up for a great decorative look. You can also put some shiny tinsel in with the ornaments or anything else you can think of that could fill in some of the spaces between the ornaments. You can also leave them as is if you like the way that they look.

If you put your mind to it, you can find many different ideas for using Christmas ornaments to decorate your home for the holidays. You can use them anywhere as long as you make sure you secure them if you have children or pets. Some are made of glass, which means shards of glass on your floor or in your carpet of they fall down. You can find great looking ornaments these days that are made with plastic that look just as good as glass, so get those if you feel that breakage could be a problem.

Decorating With Original Abstract Metal Wall Art

October 13th, 2010 No comments

When we think of home decorating, furnishings, wall colors and a generally well-coordinated décor come immediately to mind. Artwork is also an important element of any home decorating scheme. Have you considered abstract metal wall art? Large, open wall spaces can be an intimidating challenge to the home decorator. A single painting can easily become lost on a large wall. This is where abstract metal wall art can, quite literally, shine.

Large pieces can span large spaces with colorful and intriguing visual interest, while not overwhelming the space or your décor. Smaller pieces can add both originality and zip to an entryway, kitchen or bedroom, staving off visual boredom that might occur by sticking with one form of wall art, such as the one dimensional types – paintings, photos and the like. Let’s take a look at some of the unusual themes and designs that are readily available.

Visiting some of your local art galleries can turn up some exciting prospects. Another way to shop is online. If you’re unfamiliar with the variety of abstract metal wall art available, you’re in for an eye-opening treat! Do some ‘window shopping’ with Google’s image search, which, BTW, has been recently enhanced, displaying dozens of pages of results on just one web page, making for the fastest window shopping in town! A general search on this search gives you a feel for the variety of abstract metal wall art that’s out there, so you can quickly zero in on themes, colors and subject matter that is suited to your taste, wall space and home décor. For example, sunbursts, fish and trees are popular themes. That said, there are as many variations on these common themes as there are, well, fish in the sea. These metal wall art pieces are original, reflecting a myriad of artistic expressions on the subject.

Clocks are also plentiful in the abstract metal wall art market. Instead of the same-old, same-old conventional clock hanging in your den or kitchen, explore the possibilities of metal wall art for a truly unique timepiece.

Stained glass effects also figure prominently in this artistic venue of home decorating. You’ll find designs in which the metal has painted accents which help form pictures. Still others simulate paintings, with square or rectangular pieces, filled with detailed images constructed of metal. Scroll work is another popular element, which lends a Baroque touch to your art work.

Maybe you’ve got a wine cellar. How about an metal wall art piece in the shape of a wine bottle? Now there’s a conversation piece! If quilts are your thing, you’ll find lots of this type of artwork. Perhaps such a piece can find a home with you, making a sensational display of your beloved hobby.

There are metal wall art pieces intended for both indoor and outdoor use. You can see that there are some interesting and original ways to enhance your home décor. Before you hire an interior decorator out of sheer exasperation and lack of inspiration, take a look at some of the hundreds of thousands of abstract metal wall art, just waiting for that perfect place in your home!

Two Considerations When Buying A Glass Beverage Dispenser

September 18th, 2010 No comments

Although it’s tempting to any old product when you’re shopping for a glass beverage dispenser, there are a few less than obvious considerations that you should go over before making a purchasing decision. My goal with this article is to take you through some of those things in a checklist fashion so you are better informed by the time you get to the store.

While you may be tempted to buy the largest possible glass water dispensers for the cheapest price considerations such as build quality, shape, and matching the interior design of your immediate surroundings all come into play:

The first major consideration is the size of the beverage dispenser itself. Are you looking for a dispenser that can serve a large party of people, or are you looking for something that will serve more intimate situations such as family gatherings or e-mail with a few close friends? If you’re only going to use the dispenser for small gatherings than you might as well get something smaller and use the extra cash to spring for a higher quality item. Getting something larger might very well be too unwieldy for smaller gatherings.

The next major consideration is whether you want to get any accessories with their glass beverage dispenser. For instance, a number of these dispensers actually come with an indented portion on the bottom of the unit that is meant to slot on to the included stand. Little considerations such as this can come into handy down the road when the inevitable mishap occurs in the middle of a busy party. On the other and you might not need the stand; if you’re going to be keeping the dispenser with other similar items somewhere in the kitchen, then there’s really no point of having and included stand if you’re never going to use it.

Although there are a number of other considerations when you’re buying a glass beverage dispenser, the above two will take you pretty far in making the right choice when it comes time to make a purchase. If money is no object, then of course eating no pretty crazy in terms of features and build quality.  However, most people are just looking for a practical item that they can use on an everyday basis.  The bottom line is that no matter what you buy, as long as the products is durable and doesn’t clash too much with that your surroundings, you should be OK.
