Golfing for Beginners: Part I

February 6th, 2010 No comments

The popularity of the game of golf has increased tremendously over the past forty-five years, giving us great champions like Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods and world-renowned courses like Pinehurst, St. Andrews, Augusta National and the Blue Monster at Doral.

Why has golf become so popular these days? Its the opportunity to be outside, to get a good whole body workout, network with friends or business colleagues at a leisurely pace, and to play a game that you can never play perfectly.

Your scorecard, over time, will demonstrate your improvement, which keeps you playing time and time again.

Here follows an elementary lesson for those who know nothing about golf.

The typical round of golf is played on a course of eighteen holes, each or which has its own ‘par’. Par is the total number of shots it should take a player to complete that hole, ie all the tee shots (drives), fairway shots, chips (short shots onto the green) and puts into the hole.

The par number is based on the length and difficulty of the hole. Pars range from 3 to 6. If you get the ball in the hole in five shots on a par five hole, you “made par.” If it took you six shots, its called a bogie, if you made it in four, its a birdie.

There are usually “hazards” of some sort or other on all the holes. Bodies of water, sand traps, and trees are strategically placed to make reaching the hole more challenging. Beginner golfers should seek to find courses to play that are easier to play with fewer hazards.

Players mark their own scorecard with the cumalative total of shots taken for each hole. After playing all the holes, the players add up their own scorecards and the one with the lowest score is the winner.

It is vital that beginners to golfing should not take the game too seriously, because it takes a very long time to play golf proficiently, even if the professionals on TV make it look so easy.

It makes very good sense to take a few lessons from the course pro, when you are just beginning to learn to play golf, because then you will learn how to stand and swing the golf club correctly.

Warcraft After Cataclysm. The Changes to WoW Guilds We Can Expect.

February 6th, 2010 No comments

Blizzard have gradually been announcing more information on the upcoming Cataclysm expansion. The latest tidbit is to do with the changes we can expect to guilds.

WoW progression in other areas such as levelling and instance runs has had a lot of love from the developers over the years. It’s about time the social aspect of guilds was overhauled.

The entire guild system is having a review, and although Cataclysm is some way off, the news looks very good indeed.

On logging in after patch 4.0, the first thing you might notice is the new guild GUI. The old style guild communication is gone; this is a whole new system. A screen showing your guild achievements through the various instances is displayed, along with the new achievement point total. Yes guilds now have guild achievement points.

The famous guilds such as WoW Defiance and WoW Relentless are well known for having realm firsts. But only because they tell us. But what about all the other guilds with legendary atonements and realm firsts? Well from Cataclysm they will be prominently displayed on a guild ticker for all members to see. A sort of live CSS feed of events.

One area that I was particularly pleased to see was a system of bonus payments from loots being paid directly into the guild bank. I don’t know about you, but paying my 5g a day does get a little irksome. So this new system will stop that. You can allocate guild “talent points3 to a loot bonus that will increase the value and amount of loot you get, but this “extra” will be credited straight into your guild bank. Leaving you with the same amount you would always have had.

The way guilds deal with professions is also due to change. Every member will have a permanent link to their profession in the guild tab for all other members to see (and link to if needed). No more shouts and whispers “Can someone link me …” It will all be there.

Their are even achievements for guilds that have maxxed out all professions. These additions to WoW progression make welcome news. It shows that both social gaming is being taken seriously, and that Blizzard is looking carefully at the current balance of professions in game. If WoW’s ascent is to last this is an issue that needed to be addressed.

So love all round for guilds here.

Perhaps as a parent you might be asking as to where to buy Ben 10 alien force action figures. It is of no denial that since the advent of the animated series, children had been swarming to get a piece of Ben 10 action. And the least any child can have is to get some action figures related to the said series.

As a parent, I bet you also want to give such a piece of happiness to your child. Perhaps your main concern now is to know where to get these figures. You might try to look at some areas but unfortunately you weren’t able to find all you want. In line with that dilemma, let me help pinpoint the best locations and venues to buy Ben 10 alien force action figures.

Venue #1: Internet. The Internet is the most convenient and easiest avenue to buy almost anything. And this is also an area where we get to buy almost everything. The Ben 10 alien force action figures are no exception. Some sites that can provide you with the action figures are Ebay, Amazon, Ben10Toys and Bandai.

Most of their figures are genuine and truly upscale. You can then get your toy on payment which is proven really appropriate and fast. Unfortunately, some of these shops don’t have the entire line. Often, some heroes are not found or out of stock.

Venue # 3: Collectors. Some Ben 10 collectors have extra sets of toys that they no longer need. Some of these people have the rarest piece of market power at very low prices. So if you have a friend that you know is a collector, you can consult or seek to sell some of the toys for you. But the downside, if you don’t know anyone who may be able to provide this, you might have trouble finding. But if you know someone, then surely you can get some parts with brands at low prices or even free.

These are only three locations where you can find some action figures of Ben 10. So what are you waiting for, get out now or open the computer and slowly look for some. Be like Ben and buy Ben 10 alien force action figures immediately.
