Health Care Jobs

April 20th, 2010 No comments

Health care is an extremely popular field. There are many different types of . You can easily find a job in the field of health care if you look carefully and think about the kind of job that best suits your needs and wants.

One of the most popular areas of employment in the field of health care is the field of nursing. Nurses help  patients in many different areas including education and direct assistance with tasks such as dressing and feeding. A career as a nurse can be a very satisfying way to earn a living.

Another very popular field in the health care arena is that of doctors. Doctors work with patients directly. They help diagnose illness and correct problems that may arise. A doctor will prescribe medication, examine a patient and decide on a course of action such as surgery or simply watching to make sure the condition in question does not get worse.

Another popular area of health care employment is that of medical products. People help develop new technologies such as new breathing machines or new ways of doing dialysis. Such products need to be tested. Once they’ve been tested the company in question will hire people to manufacture them and then sell to them to the appropriate authorities.

In addition to the careers mentioned above people are also employed to research medications. A medical researcher may be involved in helping study a new area of treatment for cancer or heart disease. Research typically involves working with animals to determine if a medication is effective. After the medication has been tested on animals the company may progress to clinical trials and then to selling the product in question.

Health care can be a great area to seek employment. Such careers allow people to pursue their personal goals and earn a living at the same time.

Vending – Don’t Believe All the Hype

April 9th, 2010 No comments

There are a few things to consider before you jump right into vending; it’s easy to get swept up in the hype before you have a full understanding of all the facts. There are a lot of companies and people out there who make their living promoting vending as an easy lucrative business that anyone can start, but they don’t give you the full story.

I do like vending, but it’s not without its downside. This economy has made finding and keeping good locations tough. Small businesses are closing in droves and that doesn’t seem like it’s going to be improving anytime in the near future. Not only are good location scarce, but I’ve lost a few machines due to businesses closing. The owners shuttered their stores and didn’t bother to call me. This is not extraordinary, just a normal part of the vending business, but you won’t hear about this from the vast majority of people trying to promote vending. What they’ll tell you is “All you need to do is place your machines and the money will roll in.”

The one aspect of the vending machine business that I’m currently finding very hard right now is expansion. When starting out, it is very hard to grow your business. I have 30 vending machines sitting around my place needing locations. It’s not a pretty sight. My problem is that I do vending part time and I have a normal day job. Well, I’ve expanded my vending route all around where I work so that I can service it on my lunch break but now this area is saturated so I need to expand. A lot of potentially good locations aren’t open on weekends so this limits my growth. Also, I still need and want some free time, I don’t want to have to spend every weekend placing and servicing my machines.

Once your vending machine business is established things do get a little easier. You will still need to replace about 5% of your locations every year, but it is not near as labor intensive as the business expansion part. Vending is a good business, but it’s not all roses and sunshine despite what some people may try to tell you.
