How To Install Car Speakers Easy

February 1st, 2010 No comments

There are many problems that might arise in the speaker system. The problem may be detected when there is noise, rattling sound, popping sound or a hissing noise. The other problem could be that one speaker might be fully dead and the music might not be playing in one speaker. When such signs are shown by the speakers they need a service or might also need a replacement. When the speakers have to fixed, they must first be opened and then the problem must be detected before fixing it. But how to fix a car stereo speakers without any professional help? This article will provide some basic tips for this.

Before carrying out the repair, one should have the following stuffs to carry it out: glue, battery, new speakers for replacing the old ones, screwdrivers, and manual of the car. The following steps can be followed and might require assistance from professionals sometimes.

With the help of your car`s manual first locate the position of the speakers. The speakers will either be mounted on the door or at the rear end of the vehicle. Now check whether there are any screws holding the speakers. Mostly there will be a grill protecting the speakers. In such a case remove the screws holding the grill. But if there are no screws present then try to pry the grill with the help of a butter-knife or with the help of a flat-head screw driver.

Speakers can be mounted both ways. Either top or bottom. For top mounting of speakers it is easy to operate from the car inside. If speakers are bottom mounted access can be had only if we climb to trunk of the car.

Next is testing step. To perform this testing job to find out which speaker is not working attach it to butt connector and then check. Next short behavior is examined. This is easily done by connecting a battery to the speaker. Look out for characteristic thump sound or pop sound. If we are able to hear that then the speaker is in working condition

Next check the voice coil or the magnet for any type of damage. If the magnet is damaged then the speakers have to be replaced. If still you cannot find the source of the problem then find out whether the speakers have short circuited. This can be done by connecting a working speaker to the car`s wiring system. If the speaker does not produce any sound then you may have to replace the speaker.

The other parts like voice coil, etc. are checked for damage. If this coil or the magnet is repaired, the speaker must be replaced. The wires must also be checked for any signs of a short circuiting. In this case the wiring has to be changed. The fuses must also be checked and repaired if there is any problem in that.

This is how to fix a car stereo speakers when the exact problem is not known.

Simple Tricks To Wire A Dual Voice Coil Woofer

February 1st, 2010 No comments

There are two ranges of sounds. One is the high range sound and the other is the low range sound. The high range sounds can be handled at speakers in the rear end, dash and door panels of the vehicle. But the lower tones and the bass effects are generally handled by the sub woofer which has got no other substitute. One should ensure that the sub woofers are wired properly. But how to wire dual sub woofer?

There are few tools required for accomplishment of this task. The usage of such tools will reduce the man power required and makes it easy to complete the task. It may include amplifier and dual speaker.

The first step is to check the impedance of the sub woofer. They come in many ranges of resistances or impedance. Four ohm and two ohm are the most common ranges available. This sub woofer may also be of dual voice coil they don have variations that are unusual. The very common type of sub woofer under using is the four ohm range. And so the plans for wiring are all designed so as to match this kind of sub woofer.

An amplifier will have two channels. One subwoofer has to be connected to each of these channels. But before connecting remove the insulation from the end of the wire. About 0.5 inch of insulation has to be removed for making the connection. Connect the wire from the positive terminal from the right channel of the amplifier to the positive terminal of the sub. Now connect the negative terminal from the right channel of the amplifier to the negative terminal of the sub. Now repeat these steps to the left channel of the amplifier.

The positive wires are then connected to the positive terminal and in the same way the negative terminals connected with the negative wires. That is in general corresponding connections between sub woofer input and the amplifiers are made. These steps are repeated with the amplifier’s left channels and the second sub woofer.

Single channeled amplifiers are also available. “Daisy- chaining” method is used for the connections of amplifiers which have a single channel. In this case the positive of the both the subwoofers are connected to the amplifier’s positive . These terminals are connected through two different wires from the amplifier. Next the negative connections are made. The same procedure is followed to connect the negatives.

Now check the connection by playing a music track. If the bass quality is not good then you might have connected a negative to a positive terminal. This type of connection will result in reducing the sound output.

One should always know how to wire dual sub woofer, so as to have their car stereo and sub woofer working in a proper condition and to enhance good sound quality.

Many wires are connected to the speakers . Now with cutting pliers disconnect one of these wires. However ensure that there is provision for reconnection of this wire. The line out converter is now fixed to the wiring . Next step is reconnection to that speaker (6×9) .

The connector is placed in the tool and it is squeezed hard. This is done to make the colour of the crimping tool and the electrical wire same.
