Consider Upgrading to LED Trailer Lights

July 3rd, 2010 No comments

All towing vehicles have a legal responsibility to ensure that they have adequate trailer lights or some form of lighting kit. The Department of Transportation is responsible for releasing and updating the LED trailer lights guide. It is recommended that you take a little time to read this guide, it covers specific specifications for trailer light systems and signs, and standards such as the illumination of your LED lights, as well as the size and positioning.

When you set out to buy your lights, the responsibility is on you to ensure that those lights have a quality certification and meets the minimum requirements of the Department of Transportation. Many times individuals will make the mistake of not checking the lighting system often enough. After connecting the lights and setting out on your road trip it is possible that the lights could come unconnected. When stopping to fill up for gas, or to take a break from driving, it is crucial to check your trailer lighting. That extra minute that it will take can make a difference in saving a life.

Another good safety tip the traveler should adhere to, is to always carry an extra set of wires and bulbs as well as a tester and toolkit. This will allow you to immediately replace the fuse or bulb if either should happen to blow. If you are renting a trailer and you are connecting your own lights, make sure to check for any corrosion around the main connection. This could cause your lighting not to work or work temporarily and then fail while you are on the road.

If you currently have a trailer lighting system that uses traditional type bulbs, you may want to consider upgrading to LED trailer lights. They are the best replacement option, they are brighter, they last longer, and most importantly they are extremely affordable. LED trailer lights are the best alternative to the old traditional style bulbs.

Different All Terrain Tires To Choose From

July 3rd, 2010 No comments

Driving through a tough terrain requires extra amounts of steering, maneuvering – all in all, struggling with your vehicle.  Even with all terrain tires, things won’t be easy, especially for novice drivers.  This is the reason why anyone who intends to purchase all terrain tires should go for nothing but the best.  Yes, there will still be difficulty, but it’s pretty tolerable, given the traction and support that exceptionally made tires yield. Here’s a quick all terrain tire review of several brands of all terrain tires in the market (as taken from my all terrain tires website):

Pit Bull Growler All Terrain Extra Off Road

Perhaps the quickest way to make your truck an off road sensation is to rig it with a set of Pit Bull Growlers.  These radials as durable as they come, maybe even more.  Large jagged rocks are nothing but mere obstacles to these tires.  The same goes for mud, snow, sand, concrete, gravel and inclined areas.

With their superb grip and durability, these all terrain tires withstand not only the test of time, also any obstacle that a terrain presents.  They are on the wishlists of off road racers.

BF Goodrich T/A KO

BF Goodrich, one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers, enters the market of all terrain tires with the T/A KO.  Expectedly, they do quite well – in fact, dominating much of the competition.  The radials expertly handle mud and sand, as if they were concrete.  The noise level is also low – soundless according to some users.  Well, what can you expect from a company that uses cutting edge technology and hires expert researchers?

Nitto Dune Grappler

Sand is a tough surface to travel on.  Not only are the grains slippery, they are also unstable and get stuck to the treads.  A select few can maneuver through sandy terrain, and the Nitto Dune Grappler happens to be one of them.  The radials have special tread patterns that conform to the properties of sand, making travel more convenient.  In addition, the tires can also be used for other tricky terrain, given their traction.

What you Should Know About Buying a Used Car for Sale by Owner

June 4th, 2010 No comments

There are many ways to buy a used car for sale by owner these days. If you look on Craigslist you will likely see quite a selection, so it should not be too hard to find what you are looking for price wise and vehicle wise.

It is very important, however, to check the used car out carefully.  You will not get any kind of warranty so if the car starts having problems shortly after you buy it, you may find yourself with an unexpected repair bill.  While the looks of the car are important and you do not want something that is dented up, or that has multiple stains on the seats and floor, it is the motor and how the car runs that is actually the most important and should be given the most attention.  Always ask to take the car out for a test drive; nearly all car owners should allow for this.  It is important as then you can see how the car runs and if it makes any odd noises.  Ask about the mileage as well – the car may be in good working order but if it has put in a lot of miles, then it may not be working so well for long.  It is just a fact of life that after a certain amount of use cars will start giving serious problems, even if the owner has taken good care of it.

Even if the price is quite good, always ask about the possibility of getting the vehicle for less.  Many used car owners are quite flexible and the owner may be willing to negotiate a bit, especially if he or she has had the car up for sale for some time, or is in a hurry to get rid of it.  Some owners may not be willing to lower the price, but you never lose by asking.
