It does not matter whether you want to write fiction, non-fiction, horror, romance, or science fiction. It does not matter whether you want to write a book of short stories or whether you are getting ready to write the great American novel that will win the Pulitzer next year. Every single book has three things in common–a beginning, a middle, and an end. Too often a wannabe writer will sit down and get paralyzed because they are trying to do everything at once.

In the beginning of a writing project, the only thing that matters is to get started. I tried for years to write a novel. Do you want to know what I tried? First I read a book about learning how to write. That was easy, so I read another book about writing books. And another. This went on for far too long. It was not until I forced myself to actually starting writing that things actually happened. The results were predictable, but wonderful.

Three years after starting, I had finished my novel. I didn’t care if my writing was wonderful or wretched. I only cared that I had done it and it had been fun. But it wasn’t fun until I started to enjoy the process of daily writing. And I could not enjoy that process until I started writing of course!

Committing to writing books is scary. I know because I have been there and I’m still there when I start a new project. The key is to get started. That is all you need to worry about in the beginning. Sit down and make your fingers move. Pencil it in, type it out on a computer, it does not matter how you do it. You just have to start. And once you start, come back every single day if possible and keep going. The most fun I have ever had writing a book is when I realized that the process was getting easier and enjoyable!

You will too. Please give it a try if you’ve been putting it off. Just write something today. Anything at all, but don’t wring your hands forever. Time is finite stuff! Once you make a strong start, you will get better every day.

I love my children’s wide eyed innocence. I used to wonder why some people commit suicide until I finally read a book about it. The sole reason why they contemplate suicide is not because they want to end their life but because they only want to end the pain.  It is their quick fix detour to what seems to be an unresolved problem. They are too tired and too blind to see that every problem has a solution.

Did you know that Gucci Mane chains are in fact made of authentic diamonds? Most people think that rap artists these days wear a lot of fake jewelry in order to deceive their fans and make them think that they have more money than they actually do. The truth of the matter is that a lot of artists that are successful and that perform a lot, end up buying diamonds and new jewels for them to flaunt around. It is kind of bad that the state of music these days has come down to people bragging about their material items and basically telling the listeners that it is better to have more jewelry than someone else.

The artist Gucci Mane has a minimum of five different kinds of chains that people can see him wear in his videos and during his performances. One of the chains that everybody really likes is his 1017 Brick Squad chain. This particular chain is very cool because it represents a branch of his self-owned record label that he started a couple years ago. It looks like a red highway sign, but has the numbers of the squad that he and his crew represent. Another unique chain that he has looks like Bart Simpson and he calls this chain “Iced Out Bart.”

Not only does this particular piece of jewelry look exactly like Bart Simpson (from the popular television show “The Simpsons”), but it has a lot of diamonds in it. Nearly all Gucci Mane fans know that one of his best chains is his dog chain. This chain was created to represent the dog named Odie from the popular Garfield comic. Finally, his biggest necklace (i.e. chain) is referenced as the So Icey Frisbee. This chain has the most diamonds and is in the shape of a giant circle.
