Acid Reflux: Home Relief Measures
Acid reflux or also commonly referred to as heartburn is a very painful condition which can either be occasional or chronic, depending on how severe your condition is. This condition not only afflicts adults, acid reflux infants is also pretty common. There are many known causes for this dreadful condition and one of the most common of which is the weakening of the stomach valve. Normally, this said valve opens in order to allow the foods you ingest to pass thru and it then automatically closes tightly so that the foods does not back up and remain right there in your stomach.
When the stomach valve becomes weak it will not have the power to prevent the stomach acids together with some of the foods that you ingested from re-entering your esophagus and into your throat and sinuses. This causes that burning sensation on your chest and that sour, orange-like taste in your mouth.
All people who have had or still have acid reflux know of the pain and discomfort that this condition can bring. Then again, the pain is not the only thing that you should be worried about since the longer your condition remains untreated, the more damage your stomach linings and throat endures and that is something that you need to avoid.
Acid reflux home remedies are proven effective in alleviating the discomfort and pain brought about by this condition. Yes, there are over the counter medications which are readily available; however, most, if not all of them, carry serious side effects. In order to ultimately get rid of your gastrointestinal problem, here are some home relief measures that you can try out.
1.) Ginger – This is a fantastic herb that can be used for plenty of purposes – treating acid reflux included. You can chew on it or take it in forms of capsules or teas. This is great for calming the stomach and eliminating the symptoms associated with acid reflux.
2.) Water – Drinking the recommended eight to nine glasses of water per day is already a great way to keep your condition at bay. As a matter of fact, not having enough water can actually trigger your heartburn.
