A Holiday In Ipswich – Suffolk

Home to a beautiful waterfront, Ipswich – Suffolk is a stunning town that is a great place to go an enjoy a relaxed holiday that is filled with some fabulous activities.

One of the first Victorian Breweries in the UK is located in Ipswich. The Tolly Cobbold Brewery building is a beautiful example of architecture and reflects many of the buildings that were built by the Cobbold family in the town. Since 2002, the brewery has been open to the public at times and closed so you won’t know until you get there if you will be able to see the fabulous museum that houses machinery and artifacts of early Victorian brewing.

Near the dock is the 67 acre Holywells Park. This park is a great place to enjoy the woods and wildlife of the area. There are many paths, ponds, and spots to sit and enjoy the wonderful landscape of the town.

The Christchurch Mansion is an ancient house that is home to some great galleries. Located on Soane Street and just five minutes from the town centre, you will enter the beautiful Christchurch Park. There is a wonderful display of Victorian dollhouses and toys in the Georgian Salon.

The beautiful fifteen square mile Christchurch Park provides you with a wonderful experience right in the Centre of Town. Archaeologists have found that it contains a medieval cemetery and was one part of the grounds of the Holy Trinity Priory in 1177. The town outgrew the Priory and in the 1300s’ St. Margaret’s was built and is in use today.

In April the annual Theatre In The Forest which is presented by the Red Rose Chain production players attracts 8,000 visitors which is the biggest theatrical festival. In June 80,000 people enjoy the Suffolk Show in Trinity Park. The show includes livestock exhibits, beautiful gardens, children’s farms, music events, great flower shops, foods and more.

In September the Corn Exchange on King Street is host to the Ipswich Beer Festival. This event is great fun for anyone who enjoys food and beer tasting. There are over 200 beers and ales from throughout the region as well as events, booths, and great activities. Another great and unique event is the annual Woodbridge Horseshow that is held in May. This event has been taking place annually since 1871. This massive show has over 12 rings, 117 classes of horses and great activities that include parades, booth, food, and horses performing in different activities.

The Ipswich Arts Festival is a wonderful opportunity to see local arts from throughout the world. Dance troupes present stunning performances, artists, poetry, music, theatre, and activities that will entice you to participate take place from the last week in June through the first week in July.

When planning a holiday at Ipswich – Suffolk, you will find that there is a great number of bistros, cafes, pubs, wonderful hotels, B&Bs, self-catering flats available. Staying here is a splendid way to spend a long or short holiday and enjoy the events and activities that the town has to offer.
