Floor Mirror Info

May 24th, 2010 No comments

One of the essentials to comfortable, convenient modern living is a floor mirror.  While the mirror does not actually go from floor to ceiling, it gives the illusion when looked into.  These mirrors are used mainly for dressing, checking the color scheme of one’s wardrobe or just bringing light into a room.

One of the most common variety is the floor mirror attached to a door or affixed to a wall near a door frame.  Large mirrors of this size need to be thick and sturdy so they are usually quite heavy.  One of the problems that many people in small apartments have is trying to find a place for a floor mirror.  If you only have two doors in your apartment, many times it is not practical to put a heavy mirror on them or there are necessary clothing hooks commanding these
spaces.  The search will then begin for a stand alone floor mirror.

If you are going to buy it new be prepared to pay for quality.  An excellent option for those on a tight budget is to go to estate sales or companies that handle the selling of used fixtures from apartment stores and other liquidated businesses.  For those people who are a little more handy and have access to tools and material, its possible to take a mirror that was made to hang on a wall and make it more portable by adding a frame and some upright supports.  Of course when working with glass, and especially mirrored glass, caution and care needs to be taken.

As a rule, the older a mirror is the heavier it is going to be.  A backing made of silver and tempered glass on top makes for a substantial but lasting construction.  Many modern and drastically less expensive mirrors are made with a foil back covered in thin almost flexible glass.  Like most furniture, you have to pay for quality, which never really goes out of style. Uses for a Hunting Knife

May 23rd, 2010 No comments

There are so many uses for what is traditionally known as hunting knives.  In fact most men who carry a hunting knife do not hunt.  They do however rely on a top quality hunting blade for a variety of needs.  Many men carry their knives in their pockets.  This practice lead the folding blade knives to be called a pocket knife.
During the course of a regular day a person has many opportunities to have a good blade handy.  You could use it for everything from cutting string to fixing a piece of machinery.  It seems that the more people know that you carry a knife the more chances you have to use it.  Most people are very protective over their knives. Many is the man who will do something for you rather than allowing you to borrow his knife.  A folding blade is the most popular type of knife that men carry.  It is safe because the blade locks closed.  It is convenient because they are usually two to three inches long and when closed fit easily into your pants pocket.  Lastly they are light weight.  Those men who are used to carry one do not even notice that its there.
There are many good knife manufacturers.  The Buck 110 Folding Hunter is one of the most popular knives.  It meets all the standard requirements for a good pocket knife.  Buck is well known for their commitment to making quality durable knives.  Benchmade knives are another popular favorite.  They also are well known for their innovative design and durable blades.
You can commission custom hunting knives if you have special needs but these are very expensive.  There are so many models and options that are mass manufactured that most people do not need to go through that kind of process.  So look around and see what is available.  I am sure you can find a hunting knife to suit your hunting or everyday needs.

Better Gaming with Wii MotionPlus

May 23rd, 2010 No comments

Wii games are now much more like real life and exciting thanks to the accuracy and speed of detecting motion from new Wii MotionPlus.  Gaming with the new device is an awesome adventure.

According to Nintendo, the Wii MotionPlus accessory for Nintendo’s Wii Remote controller gives players new levels of precision and performance when used with specially designed games.  The device is simple and easy to use.  It attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and contains an additional sensor that tracks players’ movements in finer detail and with greater accuracy than ever before.  The remote will respond to the smallest movement of the body or turn of the wrist.  The TV screen reflects any movement in real time, bringing a level of realism to game play never imagined.

The device is complimentary to technology used in the basic Wii Remote.  It uses an advanced gyroscope technology that detects the rate of rotation through resonance and leads to quicker turns and a more precise level of game play. With the increased accuracy and enhanced play, gamers will become even more immersed in Wii game play.

The game that was launched with the new accessory is Wii Sports Resort, which is a sequel to Wii sports.  This game brings sports to the Wii like Frisbee, archery, swordplay, and power cruising.

Perhaps the best example of a Wii MotionPlus game is Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. The simulation is amazing.  The component is so responsive that many players may feel they are really on the green with a club in their hands.

Grand Slam Tennis by EA Sports also uses the MotionPlus.  The difference between this game and earlier Wii tennis games is impressive. No more is there a bit of lag time when swinging the racket by moving the Wii Remote.  With the new device, the racket moves as close to a real one as any system is going to be able to replicate.

There is a pass-through external extension connector that allows for connection of an expansion pack, like the Nunchuk, without removing the MotionPlus.  However, those fun plastic accessories that fit over the controller, like rackets and pistols, may have to be replaced.

Like other Wii accessories, Nintendo made this to hold up well to normal wear and tear. It tolerates falls and drops well, along with the occasional bangs and bashes.  The unit is also rated high for humidity and temperature resistance.

Since the release of the unit in 2009, many games using it have also been released.  Most are sports games mentioned above, like tennis and golf, but there are some action games like Red Steel 2, Gladiator A.D. and Zelda.  Many games come bundled with the unit.

The MotionPlus is a fun addition to the Wii.  It would make an excellent accessory for any gamer.  It is easy to learn and fun to use.  As one gamer said “Now I can stink at golf in my living room just like in real life!”
